I am glad I am writing this post. Finally to settle down on a favorite genre of movie of mine. Romantic comedies. I have not watched all of them, but from a few of the movies I have watched, I am able to pick my top 10 list

The Ugly Truth

Topping my list of favorite romantic comedies is “The Ugly Truth”. A lovely movie I enjoyed watching, a must watch for 18+ please, yeah well the truth is ugly. Read my review about the movie here The Ugly Truth.

An under played love story with an fairy tale ending.

America’s Sweethearts

Gwen Harrison (Zeta-Jones) and Eddie Thomas (Cusack) are once golden Hollywood duo formerly known as “America’s Sweethearts” is now split, due to Gwen’s affair with a co-actor Hector which has caused Eddie to have a nervous breakdown. Both Gwen and Eddie are manipulated by Lee into attending the junket for their last movie.
Gwen immediately plays the martyr and Eddie’s delicate psyche is put to the test in the outside world. Though Kiki is Gwen’s sister she treats her as a maid to do all her dirty work… and always expects her to give up anything she likes. Eddie finds himself drawn to Kiki; he never expressed his feelings because Kiki was overweight then, but now she is a beauty at the junket. But in compromising and in making up Gwen’s mistakes, Kiki spends more time with Eddie and the sparks light up.
A few lighter moments, when Eddie sees Gwen
Eddie: Kiki! Kiki! Hold on, hold on. I want to talk. Look…
Kiki: Let go of me!
Eddie: Just… I want to talk!
Kiki: I don’t want to talk to you!
Eddie: Why not?
Kiki: Because you’re an idiot!
Eddie: Well?
Kiki: You know what? For that matter, I’m an idiot, too! In that respect, we’re actually quite perfect for each other.
Eddie: This is a very complicated situation…
Kiki: Well, let me uncomplicate it for you, huh? Forget about what happened between us, Eddie. It’s not going to work, all right? I mean, last night… last night was great. But then she calls you this morning and you just cannot wait to get out the door to get to her! What is that? It’s just not going to work, ’cause you will probably always be thinking about her, and I will probably always be wondering if you were thinking about her. I just… I just need you to know one thing.
Eddie: What?
Kiki: That woman that you saw by the pool the other night…
Eddie: Yeah…
Kiki: No, that woman that you just have to spend the rest of your life with…
[beat]
Kiki: That was me.

Notting Hill
Pretty Woman
While You Were Sleeping
Made of Honor
One Fine Day

Dame Agatha Christie and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

I started my reading habit with their novels. I always liked suspence and murder. I am pretty weak at guessing the suspects. So even the simplest plots kept me at the edge and compelling to read on. Their novel characters always inspired me to become a detective agent in future. But now I know that job requires some brains . I dont use it much when it comes to suspicions, I always blindly trust almost everything around me. But it was sheer joy to read on. At my age when I was in my 6th and 7th grade, the television programmes were very limited. We had only doordarshan at that time. And some of the famous English plays that were casted that time was Agatha Christie and Sherlock Holmes. It will be telecasted every Sunday, so there is no way of me missing it.

Sidney sheldon & Robin Cook & James Hadley Chase

They were the next set of authors introduced to me by my friends and colleagues. At this stage I started reading books for the sake of learning the language. But the way Sidney Sheldon writes his stories… my God how do I mention it, be it a plot or be it a intimate scene… u r right there, nail biting and will never want to keep the book down for food or for any thing else.

Robin Cook, doesnt talk about initmate scene’s a lot but he has his own style of mixing the right ingredients to keep you going, science facts and fiction… what more will you ask for in a mystery/thriller novel. I always liked the subject but was quite weak at it and never took that lane of study. But was always interested in knowing science facts.

Finally, James Hadley Chase, one of my friend saw me reading Sidney Sheldon and Robin Cook and appreciating them so much. He got raged and said… come on they are just into the field you should read the books of the master of mystery James Hadley Chase. He put it in two simple words about the book. He will get you in the first page unlike other authors…

Clive Cussler & Dan Brown

They were few of the mind blowing authors whom I had come across, they mix history, myth and mystery. Always passionate about history, they keep me impressed. If you dont believe my passion in history visit one of the site handled by me “http://www.greatarchaeology.c0m”
Judith Mcnaught and Mary Higgins Clark

They are a few girly authors whom I am reading currently, Judith MaNaught books, though they are too expressive and hard to believe characters, I still like her twists in tales and the blend of romance she adds up to each of her novel. Mary Higgins is also my favourite author, she is very slow in telling her mystery.

J. R. R. Tolkien and Bill Watterson

Last but not the least are my children comics and novelists. Fantasy… Play it a hundred times I still watch all the three parts of Lord of the Rings. Bill Watterson… Just the moment I think aoubt him I get in mind is Calvin and Hobbes… The characters most near and dear to me. Especially when calvin is dreaming… “after his death he is being dug by some archaeologists, they could not relate his bones posture to anything in this world and finally they name him “Evolution’s Disaster”.
I have thought about this atleast a million times since the day I read and each time it leaves me with a smile and a laugh inside
